
Wine-Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons sliced green onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon margarine or butter
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme or basil, crushed
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- Dash pepper
- 1/3 cup dry white wine
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan cook mushrooms, onion, and garlic in margarine till tender. Stir in cornstarch, herb, salt, and pepper. Stir in wine and 1/4 cup water all at once. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
- Serve with meat or toss with pasta.
- Microwave directions: In a 2-cup measure micro-cook mushrooms, onion, and garlic in margarine, uncovered, on 100% power (high) 2 to 3 minutes or till tender. Stir in cornstarch, herb, salt, and pepper. Add wine and 1/4 cup water all at once. Cook, uncovered, on high 2 to 4 minutes or till bubbly; stir every 30 seconds.
