A searchable set of 758 importable entries—664 recipes and 94 cooking techniques—transcribed from the 1989 Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book and formatted as individual web pages that Nextcloud Cookbook can read.
How to import a recipe
- Find and open a recipe below.
- Use its Copy URL button.
- In Nextcloud Cookbook, choose Download recipe from URL, paste the address, and confirm.
- Review the imported recipe against the cited scan before cooking.
One at a time: Cookbook's URL feature imports a recipe page, not an entire catalog in one click. This site gives every entry its own compatible URL.
Where the collection came from
The historical source is Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book, 10th Edition (1989), published by Meredith Corporation. The scanned volume used for transcription is available to view at the Internet Archive. Each recipe page links to its own cited scan page.
Images marked as Wikimedia Commons or reusable-license sources retain their credit on the recipe page. Other representative images were generated for this collection and are clearly labeled. The 43 entries whose only prior image was a crop from the book scan now use newly generated representative illustrations instead of redistributing those scan crops.
Accuracy note: This began as an OCR and vision-transcription experiment. The structure and images were extensively repaired, but measurements and wording should still be checked against the cited page.
