
Vegetables au Gratin

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon margarine or butter
- 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- dash pepper
- 2/3 cup milk
- 3/4 cup shredded American cheese
- 2 cups cooked or canned vegetables, drained
- 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon margarine or butter, melted
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan melt 1 tablespoon margarine or butter. Stir in 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour and dash pepper. Add 2/3 cup milk all at once. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Stir in 3/4 cup shredded American cheese till melted. Stir in 2 cups cooked or canned vegetables, drained.
- Transfer to a 1-quart casserole. Combine 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs and 1 tablespoon margarine or butter, melted. Sprinkle over vegetables. Bake in a 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes or till heated through.
