Orange Sauce

Ingredients

  • Tastes great with gingerbread or ice cream.
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon finely shredded orange peel
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons margarine or butter

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch, and orange peel. Stir in orange juice. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat; stir in margarine or butter. Serve warm.
  2. Microwave directions: In a 2-cup measure mix sugar, cornstarch, and orange peel. Stir in orange juice. Micro-cook, uncovered, on 100% power (high) for 2 to 3 minutes or till bubbly; stir once. Stir in margarine. Serve warm.
  3. Lemon Sauce: Prepare as above, except substitute lemon peel for the orange peel and 1/2 cup water plus 1 tablespoon lemon juice for the orange juice.
