Ingredients
- 1/2 cup margarine or butter
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup raisins, currants, or diced mixed candied fruits and peels
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl beat margarine or butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, the brown sugar, egg, milk, vanilla, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Beat till thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375° oven about 10 minutes or till edges are lightly browned.
- Cool cookies on a rack.
