
Creamy Dill Dip
A chilled cream cheese and sour cream dip with four variations. Transcribed from Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book, 10th edition (1989), printed page 12.

Ingredients
- 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1 8-ounce carton dairy sour cream
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion
- 2 teaspoons dried dillweed
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt or salt
- Vegetable dippers, assorted crackers, or chips
- 1 to 2 tablespoons milk (if needed after chilling)
Instructions
- Beat the cream cheese, sour cream, green onion, dillweed, and seasoned salt with an electric mixer until fluffy.
- Chill for up to 24 hours. If the dip thickens, stir in 1 or 2 tablespoons milk. Serve with vegetables, crackers, or chips.
- Creamy onion variation: Omit green onion, dillweed, and salt. Stir in 2 tablespoons regular onion soup mix.
- Creamy blue cheese variation: Omit dillweed and salt. Stir in 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese and 1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts.
- Creamy seafood variation: Stir in one drained 6 1/2-ounce can minced clams or crabmeat, flaked with cartilage removed.
- Creamy tarragon variation: Omit dillweed and salt. Stir in 1/2 cup finely chopped watercress or parsley, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon anchovy paste, and 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried tarragon.
