
Cake Brownies

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup margarine or butter
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- No-Cook Fudge Frosting (see recipe, page 89)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan heat sugar, margarine or butter, and cocoa powder over medium heat till margarine melts, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat lightly just till combined.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and soda. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to the chocolate mixture, beating after each addition. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into a greased 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
- Bake in a 350° oven about 20 minutes or till a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Frost with No-Cook Fudge Frosting. Cut into bars.
