Ingredients

  • Fudge Cake (see recipe, left)
  • Choose-a-Fruit Filling (cherry option) (see recipe, page 90)
  • Chocolate Butter Frosting (see recipe, page 89)
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Fudge Cake; cool thoroughly. Prepare Choose-a-Fruit Filling using cherries; chill well. Prepare Chocolate Butter Frosting.
  2. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Using 1 cup of the frosting, make a border around the edge of the layer 1/2 inch wide and 1 inch high. Using 1/2 cup more of the frosting, make a solid circle in the center of cake layer about 2 1/2 inches inside the frosting border. Spread the chilled filling between the frosting border and the circle.
  3. Place second cake layer on top. Frost with remaining frosting. If desired, garnish with dollops of whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Chill. Let stand at room temperature 20 minutes before serving.
